He was kept in detention for over a year, even though multiple court rulings demanded his release. Finally, he was released on the 28th of April 2017. He was released from prison on bail.

Background and early life

Nnamdi Kanu is a native of Isiama Afara in the Umuahia local government area of Abia State in the Eastern part of the country. His parents Eze Isreal Kanu and his mother, Ugoeze Nnenne Kanu, are well advanced in age. His father is the traditional ruler of the community.

In the summer of 2017, he clarified his statement at the Congress, announcing he asked for guns from a cross-section of Us-based Igbos for self-defense against consistent attacks on their “brothers” back home suspected Fulani herdsmen. These attacks he complained about were carried out on lands owned by Igbos in their backyard.

Nnamdi Kanu has continued to complain against the attacks of this nature in Igboland and is why he has engaged in civil disobedience against the Federal Government of Nigeria. He has continued to make his voice heard against the Federal Government of  Nigeria. A few months to the 2019 presidential election, his IPOB lead group threatened to boycott the general elections. His decision received huge criticism from politicians within the country who were enraged by his statement. However, on the eve of the election, he lifted the boycott decision and encouraged his supporters to participate in the general elections.

His new position was received by many as being open to the appeal and opinion of others. A year later, Nnamdi Kanu announced the launch of the Eastern security Network (ESN). A southeastern security force and demanded that all governors of the Eastern States in Nigeria ban open grazing.

This demand led to the killings in Orlu, the local government area of Imo state, a few days later. Kanu has disappeared from public appearances after his home was raided by members of the Nigerian military, September of 2017. But, unattributed pictures and videos have placed home in Israel since October 2018.

He is also the senate committee chairman on Power, Steel Development. He is a member of the main opposition party in the country – The peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).

How to do MTN configuration Settings (auto and manual)

by Abbey 17th May 2021
written by Abbey

In 2002, MTN became the second telecommunication network to carry out its operations in Nigeria. Since then, the company has continued to grow, with more people subscribing to it. Presently, there are over 70 million people subscribers on the MTN network.

History of MTN

MTN was established in 1994 as M-cell with assistance from the government of South Africa. In 2002 when they came to Nigeria, Phuthuma Nhleko was the CEO of the company. However, he was replaced the same year by Paul Edwards.

He invested in the growth of the company in Nigeria. At that time, the company was the second-largest telecommunications company in South Africa after Vodacom. But, few years in Nigeria, became the largest telecommunications company in South Africa.

In 2008, MTN purchased Verizon Business South Africa, which provided data services to customers in the country and four other African countries. The acquisition was finalized a year later. MTN also merged with Belgacom International Carrier Services ( BICS), which is a subsidiary of Belgacom.

Why You Need MTN Internet Settings

To have access to the Internet with a mobile phone, or a modem, or tablet, you need to activate it by loading the GPRS or Internet settings of the network on your mobile phone. Although a mobile phone may have the capabilities to browse the Internet, it needs to be activated with GPRS settings before browsing the Internet.

Browsing the Internet with mobile makes it easier. It also means you can use the Internet from anywhere, unlike when you use a computer.

If you are using an MTN sim card and want to enjoy good internet service, there are many ways to achieve it. One of such ways is to get your manual configuration settings right. However, you can start by looking for automatic configuration.

MTN Auto Configuration

Generally, if you want to get internet configuration settings from the MTN network without installing the settings yourself, use the function of auto-configuration. To complete this process, send an SMS “settings” to the number 3888. Usually, this should take about ten minutes for your phone to use this configuration.

When you reply to SMS from MTN, don’t forget to save your settings instantly to avoid mistakes. Sending “settings” to 3889 is free, so you won’t get charged for the SMS no matter how many times you send it.

There are times your phone won’t be able to receive automatic configuration settings. When this happens, you need to set up the configuration manually. However, it is not as difficult as it seems.

How To

Best Igbo traditional wedding attire. A concise guide.

by Abbey 17th May 2021
written by Abbey

The Igbos ( those who speak the Igbo language as their mother tongue) are the third-largest ethnic group in Nigeria. They occupy the South-Eastern region of Nigeria and part of the South-south region. Similar to the Hausas and the Yorubas, Igbos have a rich cultural heritage.

They are natives to Enugu, Imo, Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, and part of Cross River and Rivers state. One thing the Igbos are known for is hosting colourful events. From new yam festivals to chieftaincy events, you will enjoy an event hosted by Igbos irrespective of your tribe.

The respect they have for their culture is seen in the dressing and celebration of major festivals in their homes. One of the major ways the Igbos showcase their culture is seen in traditional marriages involving the natives. Both the bride-to-be and the groom spend lots of time trying to find the perfect traditional attire for the event.

Sometimes, it can take months for both of them to get the right attire and a costume for the event. Hence, some start to consider different colour combinations before they start planning to get married.

Also, traditional wedding attires are not the only thing to consider. You have to think about shoes, hair-tie, and jewellery. In this post, you will learn about different traditional wedding attire used by the Igbos and the best combinations that can go with them.

This will help both the bride and groom have an unforgettable traditional wedding day.

What is traditional marriage, and why is it important

Traditional marriage is a rite performed in the bride’s home to bring the groom and the bride together. In Nigeria, traditional marriages involve not only the bride and groom but their families as well.

It is an important ceremony because it preserves the culture of the people. Also, it helps the transmission of culture from one generation to the next. Finally, it makes the union of both the groom and bride legitimate before the people and God.

Color combination for traditional wedding attire and costumes for you

The colour you decide to wear on that day will play an important role in how the environment of the event celebration will look. Hence, you have to be careful in selecting the best colour. Also, remember that whatever colour either of you chooses must match with the other person.

Recently, most grooms go for white colour attire and a touch of the colour chosen by their bride while the ladies go for their choice in colour. For the D-Day, you are supposed to appear in two attires. The first one is used to welcome guests.

The second attire is the one you will use for the traditional weddings proper. We shall look at both attire below.

First traditional wedding outfit

As the name suggests, this is the first attire you will wear for your event. A bride can choose a sew skirt and blouse, gown, or a wrapper at the chest with lace material, George, or any other wax print. The bride needs to adore her neck, hand, and hair with traditional beads of her choice and hold a traditional horse-tail.

On the other hand, the groom can select a piece of wrapper made either of George material or lace. He has to adore his neck, hands with traditional coral beads, and hold a walking stick. He also needs to wear a cap that matches his outfit.

Second traditional wedding outfit

Here, it would help if you spent more time looking good for your event. The obvious choice here is for the bride to opt for two pieces of wrapper made with either George material, lace, or wax print. You are allowed to chose whatever material you want.

It would be best to select a sharp colour and choose a style that fits it perfectly. In other words, the best thing for you is to seek perfection on this day.
