daily imcome business in nigeria

Human needs and wants are insatiable. However, some basic needs are necessary for man’s survival. Shelter, food, water, heat, and light have been identified as the 5 basic needs of man.

Many people in the city rely on small businesses that will bring income for them at the end of the day. Not everyone is gainfully employed, even those employed will find side business as an extra source of cash, therefore the importance of daily income business cannot be overemphasized.

There are several daily income businesses that we can take advantage of. From the simplest to the difficult ones, several opportunities exist for residents of Abuja who wants to startup daily income business.

Starting a daily income business does not require large capital. You can begin a daily income business with as little as N20k. However, you must be disciplined and resilient because you will face many challenges on the way.

If you’re thinking of starting a business that will bring you daily income, then this post is for you. We will analyze the top 7 daily income businesses that you can start-up in Abuja.

1. POS Business

This is one of the booming businesses in most neighborhoods. Though this business is getting saturated day by day, the returns on investment (ROI) are good.

Another good thing about this business is that it requires less capital to startup and the process of establishment is straightforward.

To start up a POS business in Abuja you need to first apply for a POS machine.

Most of the POS are controlled by banks and FinTechs, popular players in the POS market include; FirstMonie, GTPay, Fidelity, Access Close, Quickteller, MoniePoint, and many other brands.

You can apply for a POS machine by visiting the branches of the POS company or by making use of the application portal online.

After your POS is approved, the next step is registration with the relevant regulatory authorities; this is done to avoid embarrassment and harassment later.

Now that you have your POS machine and your regulatory documents ready, the next step is to choose a suitable location for your business.

Location is the most important factor that will determine the profitability of your POS business. Make sure your POS is located near centers of Business for example in Abuja locating your POS in a place like Bannex Plaza in Wuse will attract more transactions for you because of the business activities that are carried out in the Plaza.

For those who live in large estates around Gwarimpa, locating your POS near the Business districts, entrance, and exits will attract high transactions for you.

However, all is not rosy in this business, we have heard several reports where POS owners were scammed. Therefore, in this business, you have to shine your eyes!

Popular challenges you may encounter in this business include; network issues, fake alerts both debit and credit, fake naira notes, theft and burglary, and even kidnapping.

2. Uber

Transportation is one of the essential things on earth. Humans must move from one place to another. People need to go to their place of work, schools, and companies. However, not everyone can afford private transportation.

In a city like Abuja where the public transportation system is not optimal many people rely on private transportation.

Uber is a ridesharing company that is changing the narratives of transportation around the globe. Starting an Uber business is pretty straightforward although you must satisfy some basic requirements.

To start a Uber Business you need to first purchase a suitable car that is acceptable for the business. This car must be legally purchased and must be in a full state of health.

The next step is to sign up as a driver on the Uber app. Some documents like the National Identity card and diver’s license will be required in this stage.

You can make as much as N100K per week in this business. Uber is lucrative as a full-time business or as a side hustle.

3. Dropshipping

Dropshipping is a lucrative business you can start anywhere. Dropshipping is one of the easiest businesses to start up. In this business, you don’t need to own a physical store. All you need is an internet-enabled device and a little capital.

You can start a dropshipping business with as little as N20k.

Popular platforms where you can dropship are; Amazon, eBay, and Shopify.  Although owning a physical store is not necessary, it is a plus for you.

4. Delivery Business

Another trending business these days in major cities in the delivery business. Most people are busy and preoccupied with life’s hurdles that they hardly find time to travel to buy food and other necessities. The delivery business is lucrative in Abuja if only you can make the sacrifice. The good thing about this business is that you only need a bike to start.

Once you have a bike with all your papers complete then you are good to go. Most delivery people liaise with Logistics companies and serve as agents. You can work for Jumia, Amazon, eBay, and other big names in the delivery business.

5. Mobile Restaurant

The 21 st century brought technological advancements that we cannot reject. The Internet has made everything easier.

Most people have great culinary skills but do not have the necessary capital to start up a conventional restaurant.

A mobile restaurant operates both offline and online. You can sell your cooking services to your clients. Operators of these restaurants sometimes travel down to cook for their clients for occasions like weddings or birthdays.

This business is lucrative especially if you know how to cook very well. If a customer is satisfied he will refer other people to you. As this business grows, you can scale it up by opening a physical restaurant.

6. Plumbing

This is one of the businesses that can earn a considerable amount of money if you are hardworking and know your onus. In most estates in Abuja, it is very difficult to find a plumber. The available ones are mostly not serious or preoccupied.

If you are good at this work, it can be a good side hustle aside  your main job. Imagine after coming back from work, someone calls you to fix his Kitchen sink and he pays you N3k. This is a job that can be done in less than 30 mins.

To start a Plumbing business, you need to learn from experts for at least 3 months- if you are a fast learner. For a slow learner, it can take up to six months.  Most of the other things you will learn on the job.

The main hurdle about this business is the apprentice stage. Once you have the requisite expertise, you are good to go.

7. Provision Store

If you live in a remote estate where locating shops is hard. In some estates in Kubwa, Kuzape, and Gwarinpa you have to drive 2km to buy bread. If you are living in this kind of area, it is a good idea to set up a provision store in your house – depending on the rules of your estate.

For this business, you also need someone reliable and trustworthy to manage this business for you. If your shop is located in a good area you can make more N50k total sales per day.

Extra sources of income are necessary. If you live in Abuja, the 7 top businesses analyzed above will help you decide about your extra sources of income. Although some are risky, while some require more capital, the experience is worth it. Please make thorough research before investing in any of the business opportunities above.

GrassCutter Farming In Nigeria [Key factors to consider]

by Abbey 17th April 2024
written by Abbey

Grasscutter

The grasscutter is a rodent that lives in sub-Saharan Africa. It’s been eaten by humans for centuries and has become an important source of protein. Grasscutters are edible, but they’re not just tasty – they’re also profitable.

A new study by the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Department of Agronomy and Plant Genetics has found that grasscutter farming is not only a sustainable method to produce meat, but also provides an economical way for small farmers in rural areas to be able to bring their livestock with them when they move.

GrassCutter farming in Nigeria (what is all about it)

Grasscutter farming in Nigeria is a lucrative trade that has been around since the 1960s. Nigerian farmers have found grasscutters to be hardy and disease-resistant animals, making them perfect for raising on small farms with limited resources. Grasscutter meat is low in fat and cholesterol, making it a healthy alternative to beef or pork. The average Nigerian consumes over four kilograms of these tasty rodents per year!

Starting a GrassCutter business (Step by Step Process)

What do you get when you cross a guinea pig with a rabbit? A grasscutter! This may sound like an odd question, but it’s one that holds all the answers to our agricultural problems.

Grasscutters are easy to care for and reproduce quickly without any need for human intervention. They can be raised in your backyard or on your farm, and they will never go hungry as long as there is fresh grass available nearby.

1. GrassCutter Pen: The Grasscutter pen can be made of any relevant material but is preferably a good mix between metal and wood. It should have one opening at the front with an open design to prevent ink leakage while blocked at the back.

2. Water Channel: It is no surprise that they need a steady supply of water to get by. The area where the Grasscutter pen resides must be provided with an adequate water source in order for them to stay hydrated and healthy throughout their lives.

It should also be noted that not all sources of drinking water will suffice; there needs to have some sort of lure or scent added into the mix in order for these animals’ senses to take notice and drink from what has been offered up as sustenance.

3. GrassCutter feeds: Grasscutter farmers in Nigeria have a responsibility to feed their animals. The grass is the most important food for these African creatures, and they also enjoy eating sugarcane from time to time.

Grasscutters have a taste for Napier and Elephant grass, but Sugarcane will do just fine. The Grasscutter is an integral part of the Nigerian economy due to its role in agriculture as well as livestock raising.

4. Mastery: Grasscutter farms require the attention of a knowledgeable individual who can make sure to feed and care for them properly, or else they could die. It’s best not to start one without learning everything you need first!

In order to start a Grasscutter farm, it is important to get knowledge from the right source. If you can’t learn anything about how they raise their animals at a Grasscutter farm, then download relevant materials that would inevitably be useful before starting your own life as an animal farmer.

It is not advisable for anyone without proper experience and education in this field of work to try raising these fascinating creatures; doing so might lead you into accumulating loss more than gain by the end of next year.

GrassCutter cage

The grasscutter cage is an outdoor enclosure for the small African rodent that has become a common household pet.

The cage can be made from any material, but the best materials are wire mesh or PVC piping to allow airflow and avoid rusting. The recommended surface area per animal in the pen is at least 2 square meters.

How to Care for GrassCutters

One possible way to keep your grasscutters happy and healthy is by providing them with food always. Grasscutters should be fed 2 hours before feeding concentrate in the morning and evening, as well as constant access to water.

Grasscutters should always have access to a fresh supply of food and water. Grasscutter’s diet is composed primarily of grasses which need an abundance of nutrients in order for them to grow properly.

One possible way that you could care for your pet would include providing it with high-quality fodder 2 hours before feeding concentrated feed in the morning and evening while also ensuring it has plenty of clean water at all times so as not to inhibit its energy levels or growth rate.

Questions related to grasscutter farming

How long does it take Grasscutter to mature?

Male grasscutters are ready for mating in 8 months or 32 weeks. They grow to be 2.5kg, while females take 6.5 months of maturing before they can start making babies at a minimum weight of 1.8 kgs; that’s just 500g more than males.

What does Grasscutter feed on?

Some of the fodder species that are routinely fed to the animals are elephant grass and guinea grass.

Is Grasscutter farming profitable?

Grasscutters are one of Nigeria’s most profitable species for farming. If you take this business seriously and invest in a good location to farm them, then with some luck they could make up to N4 million annually.

What is a Grasscutter?

Grasscutters are a type of rodent found in Africa. Grasscutter rats, as they are also known, live near human settlements and eat crops such as corn and millet. They have an omnivorous diet so they will also eat insects, eggs, fungi, and carrion.

How much is a Grasscutter in Ghana?

a pair consisting of one male and one female can produce 12 pups in a year, with a market value of 60-100 Gc.

How can you tell if a grass cutter is pregnant?

A Grasscuter usually gets pregnant at 6 months old or about 148-158days of gestation.

How many grass cutters make a colony?

One Grasscutter colony should contain one male and three females in a single cage.

 What is NECO?

The National Examinations Council (NECO) is the statutory examination board in Nigeria that was created with the responsibility of organizing the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination and the General Certificate in June/July and December/January, respectively. Candidates can login to the online result checker portal to check their results.

When is NECO 2017 starting?

The council has announced on their official website that the 2017 NECO SSCE will commence from 25th May, 2017, and is anticipated to end on 25th July, 2017. Purchase of forms is currently ongoing prospective candidates can now get their forms from accredited centers nationwide.

How to check NECO result without scratch card

Can a candidate check the NECO result without buying the scratch card?

It’s hilarious to even think of that. You will not be able to access your NECO results without buying the NECO scratch card for trustworthy partners of the council or through their state offices.

The scratch card is the only material you can use in login into the NECO result checker platform. It contains important information such as the scratch card pin and its serial number.

So you can’t check your result without the official scratch card.

Participants of the GUS in Session

Over 11 seasons, the Gulder Ultimate Search (Check our ultimate Gulder Ultimate Show gude) show, which is aired on various TV stations has attracted several lovers with its captivating scenes, together with daring and interesting contestants.

Gulder Ultimate Search which is sometimes referred to as GUS is a Nigerian reality TV show organized and funded by Nigerian Breweries Plc, producers of the Gulder brand of beer among others.

The main purpose of the Gulder Ultimate Search show was to promote the Gulder brand in the biggest market of Africa, Nigeria.

The Gulder Ultimate Search made its debut in 2004, and since then, it has attracted several critics and lovers alike.

GUS 4 and Anthony Ogadje’s Death

The problem with this reality show started with the death of one of its contestant (pic below), in the show’s fouth season.

Anthony Ogadje

Anthony Ogadje

The location for this edition was the Shere Hills, Jos, Plateau State. In this Edition, which was composed of about 15 participants who were commissioned to search for the Golden Age.  Mudabai Dominic found the treasure and was declared the winner of the GUS 4. Mudabai took home about 3 million Naira and a brand-new Jeep.

The Gulder Ultimate search has had several challenges since its first debut in 2004, one of the most prominent is the death of a participant in GUS 6 in Jos Plateau State.

Anthony Ogadje Mudiaga a 25-year-old contestant of the show and a graduate of Delta State University Abraka, Delta State (DELSU), alongside other contestants went to Shere Hills in Jos to prepare for the show, unfortunately, he drowned. Ogadje was retrieved mmediately by the Medical Unit of the Gulder Ultimate search.

All attempts made to revive Ogadje failed. A few hours later he was confirmed dead.

After this incident, the Gulder Ultimate Search was suspended for a year. The death of Ogadje became a very big challenge for Gulder Breweries Plc. Several people both at home and abroad called for the total overhaul or cancellation of the show.

In 2008, after paying a large sum of money to the family of Anthony Ogadje, the Gulder Ultimate Search (Check out Guide to the Gulder Ultimate Search 2021) show returned to TV screens.

When did Gulder Ultimate Search Stop?

The Gulder Ultimate Search (See the Profile of all Gulder Ultimate Search anchors ) was suspended in 2016 after 11 seasons. This last edition was held in Aguleri Forest in Anambra State Nigeria. In the edition, the contestants searched for ‘The General’s Helmet’. Chinedu Ubakchukwu from Abia state found the helmet and was rewarded with a whooping sum of 10 million Naira and a brand-new Ford Explorer.

In early, 2019 the sponsor of the show Gulder Breweries hinted at returning the show to Nigerian TV screens, the MD of Gulder Breweries Plc described the show as 100 percent local content and promised the lovers of the show that it will soon return to TV screens.

Exactly why the show ultimately had to stop

The MD of Gulder Breweries explained that the Gulder Ultimate Search (Check our grand review of the last Gulder Ultimate Search) show was suspended because of the huge sum of money the company is spending in organizing the show. Other reasons for the suspension are; corruption by the top organizing officials and the ravaging BokoHaram terrorism.

Is Gulder Ultimate Search Coming Back?

Yes!!! All fans and lovers of the Gulder Ultimate search were delighted when they heard about the return of the reality Tv show to our screens from october 2021.

With the curtains closing pretty soon on the Big Brother Naija reality TV show, it will be a big delight to watch the return of a classic Nigeria TV show in the holiday Seasons.
