Yellow Card Immunization Certificate is required for all travelers aged nine months and above to travel into Nigeria as of 1st July 2019. It was later reversed by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority who issued a new directive stating that operating airlines (regional and international) should allow passengers without yellow card vaccination certificates into Nigeria. However, those passengers will be vaccinated at the point of entry, and the process of acquiring an electronic yellow card will be initiated. This policy by the NCAA took place on the 11th of March 2020.

The policy of the Federal Ministry of Health are as follows:

  1. Passengers coming to Nigeria without a yellow card certificate to prove that they have been vaccinated against yellow fever are allowed to board. Still, they will be vaccinated accordingly at entry points, and the process for obtaining the e-yellow card will be initiated.
  2.  For passengers departing Nigeria, a valid yellow card will be required for boarding.
  3. Airlines are to communicate this policy to their passengers accordingly.
