Ubi Franklinis a music artist manager, investor, entrepreneur, promoter, planner, and a TV show host. He is also the founder of the record label, Made Men Music Group (Triple MG). Franklin was born as Ubi Ekapong Ofem – in Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria.

His early and personal life

Ubi Franklin was born on the 2nd of February, 1986. He had both his primary and secondary education in Calabar. Ubi later went to study law at the University Madonna Nigeria. He is the 11th child of his parents, out of 15 children.

The music manager married Lilian Esoro on November 1, 2015, and they welcomed their son July 17 2016. Till date, Ubi has been blessed with a total of 4 children (from different women though), 1 son and 3 daughters. Franklin recently said that he went through hell from July 2016 to March 2017. He struggled with depression during this period. And according to him, it nearly took his life – it almost led him to commit suicide.

Also, a report disclosed that Ubi was nearly killed by a Chinese man at a furniture store in Lagos. He was saved by the quick intervention of his cousin. The attacker was later arrested. The Chinese man claimed he was angered because Ubi said “See this Chinese man o”

His Career

Franklin worked with Julius Agwu as an assistant. He later proceeded to work with AY Makun and some other artists. Later, Ubi focused more on  promoting different shows.

Around 2010, Ubi Franklin became the manager of music artist, Iyanya. This was shortly before the hit song “kukere” was released. In 2014, when his label had expanded, other artists, including Emma Nyra, Tekno, and Selebobo were signed.

He was named City People Music Awards’ Music Manager of the Year, in 2016. In July 2017, he opened an online service that offers instant home pickup and delivery of laundry. Ube called his service Instant Pickup. He also launched Instant Apartment, an online platform that offers luxury apartments for rent. This was launched the same year. On October 2018, Ubi also launched an Instant Ryde, an online taxi service in his home town Calabar, Cross River state. He did the same at Uyo , Akwa Ibom State.

In 2020, the Cross River State Governor, Benedict Ayade, appointed Franklin as the Special Adviser on Tourism.

Franklin is also an outstanding public speaker. He was one of the speakers at the recent Youth Enterprise Conference organized by Nairabet’s founder, Otunba Akin Alabi. Ubi also shared stage with the chairman of First Bank, Ibukun Awosika, and the popular Nollywood Actor, Richard Mofe Damijo at the Hub Business Conference which was organized by the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly.

In 2017, the music manager launched the ‘Ubi Franklin Startup fund’, a platform to fund existing business ideas and plans. Franklin has also supported several businesses in Nigeria with startup capital and funds. He is a good philanthropist.

Franklin was born on the 2nd of February 1986 in Cross River State. He was born into a large family of 15 children and he was the 11th child. Ubi was born a twin but his twin brother is dead. His father was a high court judge. Ubi Franklin never had a lot of privacy because of his big family life.

Ubi Franklin finished his primary and secondary education in Calabar, with the hope to become a lawyer or a governor someday. The young entrepreneur studied Law at Madonna University. However, life took a different turn and turned out better than he expected.

Ubi created his Tripple MG Label (Made Men Music group).He was able to sign in 3 popular artists. From the onset, the deal fetched him thousands of dollars.

The music manager currently has 4 children, from 4 different women- three daughters and a son. Franklin has had different kinds of challenges over his numerous relationships. He once recalled how things were so bad for him around July 2016 to March 2017. He said he struggled with depression and how it almost led him to commit suicide.

Ubi Franklin had always have entrepreneurship spirit. He has been in several businesses for quite a long time enough. His work ethics has helped different artists and comedians improved, business-wise. He has worked with the likes of Julius Agwu, AY Makun and many others artists. He often promotes brands and talents. He has been in the entertainment businesses for long.

On November 2015, Ubi married Lilian Esoro (a Nollywood actress and entrepreneur). After about a year later, the couple welcomed a son named Jaden. He was born on the 17th of July 2016. Different rumors has been said and heard about Ubi Franklin’s wedding/marriage. In 2015, the same year he was married to Lilian, Franklin was in a relationship with Emma Nyra. He later made it known that his relationship with Emma did not work out. This was why he got married to Lilian in November 2015.

Lilian Esoro is one of the leading actresses in Nollywood; she is also a successful entrepreneur. She is the CEO and founder of Goldie Locks – one of the best and most fashionable hair salons in the country.

Rumors also made it known that Ubi Franklin and Lilian Esoro are no longer together. Stating the facts that Lilian unfollowed Ubi Franklin on Instagram, she also returned to her maiden name on her Instagram account. These actions raised lots of brows and more suspicion. Many have continued to spread rumors about the possible problems Ubi Franklin is facing in his marriage. However, there has not been any official confirmation from the couple about their being together or divorce. One of the last events the duo was working together on was a Charity project in Abuja. Ubi attended the Charity event alone with his son.
