More so, the appointment of the Head of the Civil service of the federation is in line with section 171 of the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria. Furthermore, the power to remove and appoint a new civil service director-general/chairman is vested in the president of Nigeria. Notably, the current civil service boss is Dr Folashade Yemi-Esan since the 28th of February, 2020. Although, she was sworn in by President Muhammadu Buhari on the 4th of March, 2020.

For a fresh University graduate, you will be placed on the level 8 salary in the federal civil service with about N978,000 annually. With further years of the on-the-job experience, you are entitled to promotions to higher levels. The director-general of the civil service commissions takes home about N6,020,000 annually as a level 17 officer.
