1. Seyi Makinde GCON

Seyi Makinde is a Nigerian politician, Businessman, and electrical engineer. He is the third child of a well-renowned lecturer and an accountant, Pa Olatubosun Makinde and Madam Abigail Makinde of Aigbofa Compound in Oja’ba, Ibadan.

His journey into the world of Electrical engineering began when he gained admission to study at the University of Lagos. After his graduation, he did a compulsory National Youth Service program with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). He was later employed in the NNPC as an engineer in pupilage.

In his quest for more knowledge, Makinde proceeded to schools such as; MIT, Harvard Business School, and International Control Systems in Houston Texas. Makinde established his private firm known as the Makom Group of Companies, after years of learning. In 2015, Makinde contested for Governorship of Oyo state under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party but lost to Rauf Aregbeshola of the All Progressive Congress. In a second attempt he contested again in 2019, and he was declared winner of the contest by the Independent National Electoral Commission. Seyi Makinde when declaring his assets before office wrote that he has assets that are worth more than N48 Billion, which makes him the richest engineer currently in Nigeria.

2. George Chukwulewa Okoroma

Engr George provides engineering solutions in the highly competitive Oil and Gas sector.

He is engaged in pipeline installations, procurements, construction of Oil and Gas facilities.

He is a graduate of Civil Engineering from the Paul Sabatier University in Toulouse, France.  After he graduated from the university he worked as a project manager with several companies to gain industrial experience.

After his years as an employee, he used the experience gathered to form his own company called The Gambetta Nigeria Limited in the year 1985, which has an interest in the construction sector. He later diversified by forming another company called Chukchi Oil and Gas Limited, an Oil and Gas facilities maintenance company.

As of 2020, Engr George is said to be the second richest engineer in Nigeria with a Networth of about 10m USD.

3. Akinsola Olusegun Faluyi

Akinsola Olusegun Faluyi is a well-known mechanical engineer in Nigeria. He is an ex-president of the Council for the registration of Engineering in Nigeria.  

He is a well-known researcher in the areas of robotics and Artificial Intelligence, having been ranked amongst the top 1511 engineers in the world.

His path to engineering success began shortly after he graduated from Loughborough University where he was awarded a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical engineering.

He was employed as an engineer in the University of Ibadan Teaching hospitals. After years of fulfilling career at the University of Ibadan, he transferred his services to the Lagos State University where he was employed as the senior engineer of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital.

He later joined the Edison Group and Partners, before he was elected as the president of the Nigerian Society of Engineers. Ten years later, he was unanimously elected as the president of COREN.

4. Abubakar Sani Sambo

Abubakar Sani Sambo is a popular Mechanical engineer of Northern extraction and a well-known professor of energy studies.

He was the first Nigerian to hold a position at the World Energy Council (WEC). From ECN he left to hold sway as the Vice-Chancellor of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.

Abubakar Sani Sambo is a fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Science, Nigerian Academy of Engineering, Solar Energy Society of Nigeria, Nigeria Society of Engineers.

5. Mayen Adetiba

In a field that is dominated majorly by males, Mayen Adetiba has carved a niche for herself in the engineering profession. She is not only an advocate for women in engineering but also one of the richest engineers in Nigeria.

She initially started as an accountant, then switched to journalism, before finally settling for engineering.

She was certified as a civil engineer from Columbia University after her initial application for electrical engineering was rejected.

6. Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad

7. Ifedayo Akintunde

Ifedayo Akintunde began his career journey as an engineer in the United Kingdom. He worked with several engineering consultants in the UK to gather experience. He later returned to Nigerian to form his own consultancy company.

He is a lead consultant for the majority of world bank projects in Nigeria.
