The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) has been the regulatory body chartered by law in Nigeria to regulate the practice of Human Resources Management. In 1968, CIPM was originally created as an umbrella Association for Practitioners of Personnel Management as the Personnel Management Association of Nigeria. It was later renamed the Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria in 1973. And lastly, Act No 58 of 1992 chartered the Institute.
The main vision of the organization is to be the foremost People Management and Organizational Development Institute in Africa and to be respected across the world.

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management examination has two curricula Foundation level courses. Two Professional level courses and two Intermediate level courses. According to the institute’s regulations, you need to pass six different examinations, two each at the foundation, intermediate and professional levels.
