How to recharge prepaid meter

by Dan Hunter 28th October 2020
written by Dan Hunter
prepaid meter

Having to only visit the “NEPA” office for the purpose of recharging your prepaid meter is now outdated – unless you still choose to. That’s a thing of the past. If you still do, no problem. But there are faster payment methods you can choose from.

The existence of technology today has made things easier. You don’t even need to go to the bank before you can pay some bills. One can get that done with a smartphone or a personal computer.

The prepaid meter issue by various electricity power distribution companies has several benefits to the users. The digital power consumption calculator gadget makes it easier for your bills to be calculated monthly.

This comes with the need to pay up the bills. No one likes stress. You would want to make your payment as fast as humanly possible. Taking a cab to the power distribution company could make you postpone it. But there are faster ways by which you can recharge your prepaid meter, from the comfort of your home or office.

Without taking much of your time, this article shows you how you can recharge your prepaid meter for your electric power consumption. Keep reading!

How to recharge my prepaid meter online

recharge prepaid meter

This is one of the easiest and fastest ways by which you can recharge your prepaid meter.

Just follow the simple steps below:

Step 1

Go to the official website of your bank. You can also use your smartphone to use your bank’s official mobile app.

Step 2

Login in to your account. You are to provide your username and password. If you don’t have an online account with your bank. Please create one right on the page.

Step 3

Now, you are to locate a menu primarily used for paying bills. You will find it on the menu tab.

Step 4

Locate and choose “PHCN”.

Step 5

When the “PHCN” page opens, you are to input all requested credentials. That is, the amount you want to purchase, your meter number, and other important details. Ensure that your cross-check your meter number. Please don’t make any mistakes here. If possible, you can first write it down on a piece of paper.

Step 6.

Input the “Online Transaction Password”, if you want to. Although this is optional.

Step 7

Check well to see if your details are correct. Then click on the “Confirm” button.

Step 8

Finally, you can now check for your online transaction token number. Then input it in the requested column.

When you are done with these steps, please check your email address or your phone message. A message will be sent to you that your transaction has been successful.

You will also get another message which contains your meter token. It is this meter token that will be used to load your prepaid meter.

How can I use the meter token to load my meter? You may ask. Simply go to your prepaid meter. Now open the card’s door and insert your smart card. Next, enter the PIN code of the token you received. That’s it, you have just recharged the digital power consumption device.

All these steps shouldn’t take up to 12 minutes of your time. It’s fast and stress-free.

Other options to recharge your prepaid meter

If you don’t want to use the option described above, there are more options you can choose from. Use any of these two:

a. You can pay for the prepaid meter with the smart card. This can be configured at any PHCN office close to you. When they help you configure your smart card, you can then use it to recharge your prepaid meter. With this said, you will still need to visit their office to buy a PIN. That’s the downside, compared to securing your PIN online.

b. Recharge the prepaid meter via PIN codes. Simply go to any PHCN office close to you. Just but credits then proceed to load it into the prepaid meter.

Also important – If you want to check any information about your prepaid meter, you can use the prepaid meter codes. Simply call the power distribution company to get the codes.

Recharging your prepaid meter online is the fastest and easiest. You no longer need to wait for hours in the bank or the power distribution company.
