About NOSDRA

The National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency was established in 2006 during the tenure of Olusegun Obasanjo to coordinate, implement, and monitor Oil spill contingency plans.

The National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency Act, 2006 (No. 15) empowers the agency to be responsible for surveillance, monitoring, and implementation of oil spills contingency plans and other related matters.

Vision and Mission of NOSDRA

VISION – To create, nurture and sustain a policy that frowns at oil spillage in the environment by ensuring companies in the oil and gas value chain adhere to industry rules and regulations.

MISSION – To restore and preserve our environment by ensuring oil companies adhere to the best practices and safety standards in oil exploration in other to minimize the environmental damages of Oil spills.

The National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency operates a Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure (CONRAIS). This salary structure was formulated for institutions that deal with research and preparation of contingency plans for the implementation of government policies and plans. The entry salary for a graduate at the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency start at 87,000.

NOSDRA Recruitment

To get recruited into the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency, you must satisfy the following basic requirements.

  1. A Bachelors Degree, or a Diploma in a related field
  2. Possession of NYSC discharge certificate
  3. Possession of a valid means of identity i.e. Voters Card, or National Identity Card.
