The Delta State University (DELSU) is indeed the Centre of Education – this was historically recorded. During the colonial era and a few years into the post-colonial era, DELSU began as a Government Teachers’ Training College. Delta State University is one of the 25 federal universities in Nigeria, overseen and accredited by the National Universities Commission. It is located in Abraka, Delta State, Nigeria. DELSU’s main campus is in Abraka. It has another college in Anwai, Asaba (the capital of the State). After the Amended Edict in 1995, another college was erected at Oleh.

DELSU has over 37,000 student population (as of the 2007/2008 session), which kept increasing. Varieties of programmes are also offered by the university.
