As you might already know, as of 2023, to be eligible for YouTube monetization, you need to meet specific requirements, which I will detail below.
Eligibility for Monetization in Nigeria
Monetization Requirements
To monetize your YouTube channel in 2023, you must meet the following requirements:
1. 1,000 Subscribers: You need to have at least 1,000 subscribers over the lifetime of your channel. It’s not necessary to gain 1,000 subscribers within a year; this can be achieved over time.
2. 4,000 Watch Hours: Accumulate a minimum of 4,000 watch hours within a one-year period to be eligible for YouTube monetization.
3. Adherence to YouTube Policies: Your content must comply with YouTube’s policies, including copyright and community standards, among others.
4. Original Content: YouTube generally prefers original content. While you can create reaction videos, it’s essential to provide your unique commentary or perspective. Simply reposting content without substantial transformation or commentary may not be accepted.
Content Authenticity
YouTube has become more stringent when it comes to the authenticity of content. They require that the content you upload is original and created by you. They do not permit the use of content stolen or sourced from unknown origins. However, creating reaction videos is acceptable, but it’s crucial to provide commentary. If you make reaction videos with your voice, you may encounter issues. However, if your reaction videos feature your face, they are generally accepted.
