Command secondary school [Fees, Uniform and addresses]

by Abbey 14th April 2024
written by Abbey

command secondary school

The Command secondary school was established on the 29th of September 1977 by the Nigeria Army to provide affordable and quality education to the children of their officers that reside in the barracks even during their posting. The school, a co-educational military school, was made open for all citizens of Nigeria some years later.

The school was established as a private military school that would involve specialized military training. Currently, there are over 25 command secondary schools in the country. The command secondary school is managed by the Directorate of Command Schools Service, an arm of the Nigeria Army.

Each command secondary school is controlled by an Area Officer (Commandants), who doubles as the principal of the school.

Command secondary school fees

The Command secondary school doesn’t publish their school fees schedule online, although they can be made available upon request to the Directorate of Command Schools Service. You can request for the schedule of the fees by sending an email to support@dcss.sch.ng

However, we were able to gather some information about the command secondary school fees. It’s reported that the fees vary depending on the occupation of the parent/guardian of the student. School fees payment is in three different categories: Low-rank officers’ pay the least amount, high-rank officers pay more than low-rank officers while civilians pay the most in terms of tuition fees.

The fees also vary per term as parents/guardians pay more during the first term because educational/instructional materials are given to their child at the beginning of the term.

The Directorate of Command Schools Service has an online portal where applicants to any of the Command Schools across the country can register for the Directorates entrance exams.

Also, they can print photo cards, check the address and centers of the command secondary school entrance exams.

Admission

All your question regarding WAEC answered

by Abbey 15th April 2024
written by Abbey

waec logo

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is the statutory examination body that was created to arbitrate the set of examinations needed for use in West African English speaking countries. Also, it is charged with the responsibility of organising such examinations, and also to award certificates that also equivalent to those of examining authorities internationally.

The establishment of the West African Examination Council won’t have been possible without the efforts of The University of Cambridge local examinations syndicate. In 1948, in collaboration with other bodies, they met on issues regarding education in West Africa after which Dr George Baker Jeffery was appointed to visit several West African countries. At the end of his visit, he recommended the creation of the West African Examination Council. In 1951, countries like Nigeria, Ghana, the Gambia and Sierra Leone passed an ordinance to the establishment of the council. However, the West African Examination Council was officially established, and operations began in 1952 at its headquarters in Ghana.

How to check WAEC result

You can check your WAEC result when it’s released by the Council on the result checking portal. nigerian navy seamen

You must have heard of the word ‘Seamen’ before, but don’t have a full idea what they do. A Seaman is a generic term that is used to described junior Naval officers around the world.

In the Nigerian Navy, anyone who is enlisted into the navy with O-level results is automatically referred to as a Seaman. In most military complexes around the world, the Navy is said to have the most lucrative salary and allowance packages.

Prospective applicants of the Nigerian Navy will be interested in knowing the benefits that are attached to working for the Nigerian Navy as a Seaman.

What is the name of the ranks of people regarded as Seamen?

In the Nigerian military, the word ‘Seamen’ is used to described junior officers in the Nigerian Navy. Sometimes, the word ‘sailors’ is used instead of seamen. Although four ranks in the Nigerian Navy carry the word ‘seaman’. The ranks are; Ordinary Seaman, Seaman, Able Seaman, and Leading Seaman.

Apart from the officers officially listed as Seamen, the first 7 ranks of the Nigerian Navy are classified officially as Seamen or Sailors. These ranks are categorized as the non-commissioned officers. The 7 seamen ranks are;

Salaries of military officers and other critical military institutions like the DSS are often treated as classified information.

However, it is popularly believed that Naval Seamen earn a salary of about 70 – 120k per month. There are also provisions for the allowance which include; Travel allowance, Education, and Furniture.

Other benefits like pension, housing healthcare

Pensions

Apart from the official salary package, the Navy Seamen are placed under the contributory military pensions of the armed forces of Nigeria (See the Police Rank Equivalent to Military in Nigeria).
