Akintola Williams Deloitte
Chief Akintola Williams was born on the 9th of August, 1919. He was the first Nigerian and African to qualify as a Chartered Accountant.
In early 1930s Akintola began his education at Olowogbowo Methodist Primary School, Bankole street, Apongbon, Lagos Island, Lagos State, Nigeria. His late junior brother, Chief Rotimi Williams, also attended the same primary school.
Akintola Williams founded him in 1952, and he later grew it organically. Through mergers, he was able to become the most extensive professional services firm in Nigeria by 2004.

In 1950, Williams return to Nigeria and served with the Inland Revenue as an assessment officer. This lasted till March 1952. He left the civil service and went to found Akintola Williams & Co. in Lagos State.
From April 1999 to May 2004, his company, Akintola Williams & Co., merged with two other accounting firms. The result was Akintola Williams Deloitte (now well known as Deloitte & Touche). The firm is now the largest professional services firm in Nigeria – with more than 600 capable staff.
Akintola Williams has received many honours during his long-term career. He clocked 100 years in August 2019.
