Grange School, founded in 1958, is one of the largest private boarding and day school located in the heart of Ikeja, the state capital of Lagos State, Nigeria. The school was created to provide primary and secondary education to Nigerian citizens that are of the same quality of what is obtained in the United Kingdom.
One of the only 3 schools in the country that has been accredited by the United Kingdom Independent Association of Preparatory Schools, Grange School, was created as a non-profit and co-educational school. The school has an estimated population of over 769 students with approximately 435 pupils in the Primary section, which are between the ages of 4+ and 11+ and 329 pupils in the secondary section, which are between the ages of 11 and 17+. Also, it maintains a class size of 19 pupils; this has become a school policy over the years.
Grange School, which has an affiliation with IAPS (UK), AISA (Kenya), and COBIS (UK), is headed by Mr. Guy Cassarchis as the CEO/Headmaster and Mr. Dayo Lawuyi as the Chairman of the Board.
The current Deputy British High Commissioner to Nigeria is the school’s patron.
Grange school fees
Grange school Ikeja’s schedule of school fees is not always displayed to the public. However, they provide an explanation of the fees to be paid on their official website. Below is the description of the fees;
Development Levy:
The development levy is a one-time non-refundable payment for the duration of the student’s stay in the school (Primary and Secondary). The development levy stands as the acceptance fee for the acceptance of the admission. The funds are used for the on-going development of the school’s physical structures.
Refundable Deposits:
All new students are expected to make this payment and stands as a term’s fee. Pupils can be refunded this fee when they exit the school provided they have paid all outstanding fees, and a notice of withdrawal is given to the school prior to the time.
Tuition:
Tuition fees are paid once annually or by the first week ending of each term. However, pupils in year 6, 9, and 11 can pay their tuition fees in two equal installments, usually at the beginning of terms one and two.
Other fees include Book Rental fees, School fees trust scheme, Educational resources fee, Yearbook, Co-curricular fees, amongst others.
However, reports have it that school fees lie around N4.5 million per annum. This makes the Grange school one of the most expensive schools in the country.
Grange school entrance exam
The Grange school entrance examination is comprised of 70% of what was taught in the pupils’ previous school. However, Grange school can include up to 30% General Knowledge questions in the entrance examination.
The entrance examination into the Grange school Ikeja usually holds on the penultimate Saturday in November for secondary pupils, while for pupils seeking admission from year 1 to year 10 will have their entrance admission on the 1st Saturday of June.
The subjects to be written by secondary pupils in the entrance examination include Mathematics, English, Science (Physics, Biology, and Chemistry) and Cognitive Ability Tests (CAT) while for primary pupils; Literacy, Numeracy, and Science.
Also, all aspirant that are seeking for admission into the reception age-grades must take part in a school readiness test that will be arranged by the Deputy Head Pastoral. This process begins in February and ends in April.

Parents that wish for their child or ward to be considered for admission in Grange school Ikeja must follow the following step by steps guides provided below;
- For the primary section, the pupil must be 4+ and 11+ for secondary students by 31st August of the particular year of admissions.

- Make a non-refundable payment of N25,000 as registration fee to either the school bursary department or the school account.
- Completed application forms must be submitted to the school with copies of the following documents; Birth certificate, School reports (previous school), Immunization records, and 2 recent passport photographs.
